75th Annual MCOA National Specialty
HOSTED BY FIVE STAR MASTIFF CLUB
Laura Watson Packer passed peacefully at her home in La Selva Beach,
CA, with her family and faithful mastiffs, Keshi and Musashi, at her side.
Laura became involved in the Mastiff breed in the 1990s joining both the
Redwood Empire Mastiff Club and the Mastiff Club of America. In the
early years, Laura could often be seen actively chairing the Banquet
Committee for the MCOA Nationals as one example of supporting the
breed she loved. Laura owned, bred and sponsored many of the top
confirmation Mastiffs. She also contributed as participant and helper for
Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog assessments. Those who knew her
could easily describe her as tenacious, strong spirited, opinionated,
friendly, and generous. Bidding against Laura at one of the Clubs live
auctions could be entertaining and from time to time, a competitor may
find themselves going home with the item they had “lost” to Laura as her
goal was supporting the breed not obtaining a sometimes a rare piece of
Mastiff treasure. The family has requested memorial contributions be
made in Laura’s name to your local humane society or to the MCOA
Junior’s Scholarship Fund.
